Portland Hillsboro Elam Young

Element Materials Technology's Portland (Elam Young) laboratory is a specialized aerospace product qualification and materials testing facility located in Hillsboro, Oregon, serving one of the largest aerospace manufacturing regions in the United States. Supporting OEMs, Tier suppliers, military and defence organizations, aviation manufacturers, and MRO providers, the laboratory delivers rapid turnaround and technically advanced testing solutions for critical aerospace components.

The facility combines Nadcap-accredited non-destructive testing with environmental simulation and product qualification capabilities, allowing customers to validate both structural integrity and operational performance. Core capabilities include radiographic testing, ultrasonic inspection, phased array inspection, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, eddy current testing, and chemical etching, as well as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, vibration, mechanical shock, climatic and environmental simulation, humidity, corrosion, altitude, and product qualification testing.

Operating under AS9100-certified quality systems, the laboratory supports the testing of metals, composites, and complex aerospace assemblies while helping customers meet stringent aerospace and defence quality requirements.
